Hearken the Blues is unabashedly and unapologetically a blues dance event that celebrates our love and respect for blues music, dance and culture. Our vision is to bring together members of the Australian community to celebrate what we love about blues, to learn together and to get inspired.
We believe amazing and exciting things happen when blues dancers get together. Our aim for the weekend is to nourish a vibrant, cohesive and collaborative dance community, and to create meaningful connections between dancers across states.
In addition to dance, you’ll also have the opportunity to attend classes in history, DJing, organising, teaching and more. These classes will be facilitated by our international instructors Kelsy Stone and Damon Stone, and familiar faces in the Australian blues scene.
This is an event aimed at existing and committed blues dancers, wherever you are on your dance journey. Very enthusiastic blues beginners are encouraged to learn blues basics from their local dance communities in preparation for attending this event. We will not be offering any introductory dance classes, and beginners may find the class content challenging.
Hearken the Blues is a passion project for the organisers. We look forward to sharing this weekend with you.
